Hello! My name is Jordyn F_____ and i am 10 years old. I am writing a novel right now. It is about a young Amish girl named Rachel Sholfuz growing up. In the book, you get to see what the Amish life is, what her life consists of, and farm life. Also some bullies and also friends. It is not done yet, but if you wish, I will attach the story to this e-mail.

I'm so glad to hear from you! Since this blog is new, yours is my very first reader letter. How exciting to read you're writing a novel! Is this your first one? I'll bet you read a lot, too. Writers tend to be avid readers. 
       Will you do me a favor, please? Send your story as a separate attachment. Be sure it is double-spaced.

Dear Miz. Sharon,
       No, I am not Amish. I have electricity, and Amish are not allowed to have elecrticity. i am very intrested and know alot about the Amish though. And, no, I don't liveby an Amish community. I wish we did. Thank you for all your advise.

       Just to tell you alittle about myself. I am 10 years old, and have 5 cats, 1 dog, and 1 rabbit. i have a wonderful little brother Levi (8), a momma, and a daddy. I am homeschooled and in 5th grade.  love reading, writing, playing outdoors, gardening, cooking, singing, cleaning, and those type of things. I wear skirts and dresses only with modest tops. I also wear a headcovering. 

       My favorite school subject is writing and my favorite book series is the Inheritance cycle by Christipher Paolini. You should REALLY read those, they are the VERY best. They were written by a 15 year old home-schooled boy. He wrote the first in 2003 and the last one in 2011. There are four books. He also made a movie in 2004 called Eragon based off of the first book. The books are EXTREMLY!!! long. Eragon is 497 pgds., Eldest is 600 some pages, Brisinger is 700 some, and Inheritance is 849 pgs. long. I am reading Inheritance right now; i started the series in Febuary. i am really enjoying it!

Dear Jordyn, 
        Like you, I am very interested in the Amish and other "plain" sects. I admire much about them. I live in south central Indiana, and we have Amish communities not too far away. One is just east of Greensburg. Another is near Salem. I have learned that most Amish folks don't mind answering my questions. Writers learn to ask questions. That's how we learn about people.
       It sounds like you have a lively home. That's good. And you're home-schooled. Three of my grandchildren are, also. I often talk with home-school groups about writing, reading, and storytelling. (I'm a professional storyteller, as well as a writer.) I like to do many of the things you enjoy.
     With your recommendation that I read the Inheritance series, I plan to take your advice. Eragon and the sequels have intrigued me for some time. I love The Chronicles of Narnia and Lord of the Rings, so I'm sure I'd like this series, too.
       Keep writing, Jordyn. Who knows? (The Lord does!) Perhaps one of these days I'll receive a letter that begins--

In it there is a girl named Elanor Myar (and yes I said Myar not Myer)as well as one named Rose Fonduran.
